Rhapsody Media Player

The Rhapsody Media Player is the program that resides on your computer.

This software works together with the Rhapsody Service on the internet and your Rhapsody membership to provide you with the whole package of Rhapsody features.

Use the Rhapsody Media Player to play local (computer resources such as drives or files that are part of a computer, or available on a Local Area Network; music files located on your computer's hard drive(s) are referred to as "local") or streaming (process of breaking a large audio or video file into smaller pieces and transferring it, piece by piece, so it can be viewed immediately rather than waiting for the whole file to be downloaded) music.

Description

Local Media Files

Rhapsody can play most common digital media files that you have on your computer. You can play individual files by selecting File > Play Track from Diskin the Rhapsody menus, or you can addlocal (computer resources such as drives or files that are part of a computer, or available on a Local Area Network; music files located on your computer's hard drive(s) are referred to as "local") files into My Library so you can find, play, and manage them easily.

CDs

Play audio CDs with the Rhapsody player, offline or online. When you are online, Rhapsody can retrieve from its servers (any machine or program that is ‘serving’ information to another machine or program; RealServers, for instance, serve content to Rhapsody) related CD information (such as track names, artist name, and album art). In addition, you can import tracks from your CDs and even burn custom CDs.

Rhapsody Tracks

Rhapsody has a huge selection of streamed (process of breaking a large audio or video file into smaller pieces and transferring it, piece by piece, so it can be viewed immediately rather than waiting for the whole file to be downloaded) music available through the Rhapsody Service. Look through the Rhapsody Music Guide to find and play on-demand music.

You can also play purchased Rhapsody tracks, and downloaded Rhapsody tracks, even when you are not signed in to your Rhapsody account.

Rhapsody Channels

Visit the Channel Guide to find commercial-free, streaming Rhapsody Channels.

Live internet Radio

From the Channel Guide, you can also find live, streamed internet broadcasts from radio stations.

Unlimited on-demand (audio or video media that's available on the internet for immediate playback, without waiting to download a file; same as streaming media) music playback, Rhapsody channels and more are available with the appropriate Rhapsody membership.
