The Portable Device view of the Display Area

When you connect your portable player or device to your computer while Rhapsody is running, then click your portable device name in the Sources area, the Display area will show the contents of your device. From here you can manage the tracks and playlists on your device, play music, and transfer.

How do I use the buttons in the portable device view?

Warning: You must always click before unplugging your device from Rhapsody. If you do not, your music licenses could be damaged.

How does the Organizer in the portable device view work?

The Organizer in the portable device view of the Display area works in much the same way as the Library Organizer:

If the Organizer is not currently open, click the bar between the Sources area and the portable device view of the Display area to open it.

Use the drop-down list in the Organizer to sort the contents of your portable device by Artists, Albums, or Genres. To see a list of the related tracks in the Display area, select a sort category (such as an artist's name).

Here's how the sorting feature in the Organizer works:

Browse view will display:

Artists

An alphabetical list of all the artists whose music you have transferred to your portable device.

  • Select the name of an artist to view all of that artist's tracks on your device.
     

  • Click the plus sign () next to the name of an artist to view all of the albums with tracks from the artist on your device.
     

  • Select individual album names to display the artist's tracks on specific albums.
     

  • To delete an artist from the Organizer, select the artist name and press [DELETE] on your keyboard. All tracks by that artist will be deleted from your device.

Albums

An alphabetical list of all the albums from which you have transferred tracks to your device.

  • Click the name of any specific album to display the tracks you have added to your device from that album.
     

  • To delete an album from the Organizer, select the album name and press [DELETE] on your keyboard. All tracks in that album, and the album itself, will be deleted from your device.

Genres

An alphabetical list of the genres from which you have transferred tracks to your device (such as Country, New Wave, or Rock).

  • Select a specific genre to view the tracks in My Library associated with that genre.
     

  • Click the plus sign () next to the name of a genre to display the names of the artists within that genre whose music you have added to My Library. (See Artists, in this table.)
     

  • Click the plus sign () next to the name of an artist to display all of the artist's albums within that genre in My Library.
     

  • Select a specific album to show all the album's tracks within the genre that you have added to My Library.
     

  • To delete a genre from the Organizer, select the genre name and press [DELETE] on your keyboard. All tracks, albums and artists in that genre will be deleted from your device.

To close the Organizer, click the bar between the Organizer and the portable device view of the Display area.

 

 

What columns are available in the portable device view of the Display area?

This is a complete list of the columns available under the Tracks tab in the  portable device view of the Display area. Default columns are in bold. Any column can be hidden, except for Track. You can sort any column in this view.

This is a complete list of the columns available under the Playlists tab in the  portable device view of the Display area. All columns are visible by default. Any column can be hidden, except for (transfer in progress). Only the Playlist Title column can be sorted.

Note: You can select (or deselect) playlists in the Auto Transfer column to automatically transfer them to your device each time you connect your device to your computer while signed in to your Rhapsody account.  Playlist Auto Transfer is separate from Library Transfer.
