Downloading

Two types of tracks are downloaded from Rhapsody: purchased tracks ( ) and subscription tracks ( ). Once downloaded, a local music file is saved in your download file folder (either your computer's default music folder, or a folder you select in your General Preferences) and the track name is added to My Library. Downloaded tracks can be played with Rhapsody even when you are offline.

Music files that you download from sources other than Rhapsody can be imported into My Library. Select File > Import Music to My Library from the Rhapsody Menus.

Download Manager

The Download Manager ( ) will appear in the Source List when you purchase a track or download a subscription track, and it will remain for the duration of the current session.

When the Download Manager is selected, the download status for each queued file can be viewed in the Display Area. The Download Manager will also display tracks that have completed downloading for the duration of the current session. To empty the session list of downloaded files, click Clear Completed.

You can click Pause Download to temporarily suspend the download process. Click Pause Download again to continue. If downloading is unintentionally interrupted, you will be prompted to resume the download the next time you sign in to Rhapsody.

Note: Not all Rhapsody subscription tracks are available for download. If a track is not available, it will appear in the Download Manager as a stream ( ), with the notation "Not Available for D/L".

Description

Purchased Tracks

Tracks or albums that you purchase and download from the Music Guide appear in My Library as purchased tracks.

You own the rights to manually transfer or synchronize and play the track on a portable player or device, or burn it to a CD. If you share these tracks, you are only sending the bookmark for the track in the Music Guide.

Purchased tracks are available when you sign in to your paid Rhapsody account from another computer, but they will appear as streamed subscription tracks ( ) in My Library. You can choose to re-download them to the new computer. You can download purchased tracks up to three times with no additional charge.

Subscription Tracks

Many subscription tracks are available for download. When a subscription track is downloaded, the icon changes from to in My Library and a music file is saved on your computer. The downloaded subscription track can be played offline, shared online, and, with the appropriate subscription, transferred to a compatible portable player or device. It cannot be burned to a CD unless you purchase it.

Note: You must have the appropriate Rhapsody subscription to download and transfer subscription tracks. Subscription downloads are only available to users on Windows XP systems. Operating systems prior to XP cannot support subscription downloads at this time.

Not all subscription downloads can be transferred to a portable player or device. Some artists and labels have not granted subscription transfer rights to their tracks. If you attempt to transfer a subscription download that does not have transfer rights, the "Purchase" dialog will open.
