Streamed Subscription Tracks and Albums

With the appropriate Rhapsody subscription, you can add streaming subscription tracks from the Music Guide to My Library.

Streamed subscription tracks appear in the All Tracks and Shareable Tracks  filtered views of My Library.

Downloaded Subscription Tracks

If you select Download songs to my hard drive whenever possible... in My Library Preferences, subscription tracks will be downloaded to your hard drive when you add them to My Library. Downloaded subscription tracks appear in all filtered views of My Library, and can be played offline.

If you select Add songs as streams only... in My Library Preferences, subscription tracks will be added to My Library as streams ( ); you must be connected to the internet to play them.

Note:
You must have the appropriate Rhapsody subscription to add and download subscription tracks to My Library. Subscription downloads are only available to users on Windows XP systems. Operating systems prior to XP cannot support subscription downloads at this time.

Purchased Tracks and Albums

These are songs and albums that you have purchased from Rhapsody (or RealPlayer) and downloaded onto your computer. Purchased tracks appear in all filtered views of My Library.

A paid subscription is not needed to purchase music.

Non-Rhapsody Downloads

(no icon)

These are tracks that you have downloaded from some source other than Rhapsody, such as the internet.

These tracks have no associated icon, and after they have been imported, they appear in the All Tracks and On My Computer filtered views of My Library.

A paid subscription is not needed to import tracks from your hard drives.

Tracks Imported from a CD

(no icon)

These are tracks you have Imported from a prerecorded CD. These tracks have no associated icon, and they appear in the All Tracks and  On My Computer filtered views of My Library.

A paid subscription is not needed to Import tracks from a CD.

Note: Tracks that you purchase from the Music Guide or Import from CD are automatically added to My Library. You can choose to import music files from your hard disk into My Library as well.

Filtered Views of My Library

To help you find tracks, Rhapsody can filter the tracks that it lists in My Library. The View drop-down menu is at the top of the Display Area in any Library view. Expand the menu and select the Library view you want.

Browse My Library

You can also use the Library Organizer to help you browse the contents of My Library. Click the Browse button ( ) in the navigation bar at the top of the Display Area to open the Organizer. Click Browse again to close the Organizer.

Listing Tracks

Rhapsody lists your tracks in the Display Area. Each track has its own row of track information (such as Track Name, Time and Artist Name) listed in columns. The tracks can be sorted by the property of any column. Click any column header to sort the tracks by that property.

My Library Stats

The number of tracks in My Library, along with the total track playing time and the disk space used, is listed at the bottom of the Display Area in the Library view.

Note: Your total playing time is listed in hours; once you have more than 24 hours of track time the listing changes to days.

Playlists and My Library

Playlists added from Playlist Central, shared e-mails, or blogs allow you to sample a wide range of music before you add it to My Library. Playlists are added to My Playlists ( ) in the Source List without downloading tracks to your hard drive as subscription downloads, even if you have Download songs to my hard drive... selected in your Preferences.

To add the tracks from a playlist to My Library, drag the playlist from My Playlists ( ) to My Library ( ) in the Source List. You can also drag single tracks or groups of tracks from the Playlist View in the Display Area to My Library. Once added to My Library, tracks will download automatically if you have Download songs to my hard drive... selected in your Preferences.

Playlists created from the tracks in My Library become part of My Playlists. Tracks deleted from these playlists will not be deleted from My Library.
