Most music purchases with Rhapsody are done on the fly when you burn a CD or transfer to a portable player or device.

Add music from the Music Guide or My Library to the Burn view of the Mixer, and when you start the CD burning process, you will be prompted to purchase any tracks you do not yet own. Transferring music to a portable device acts the same way (unless you are transferring subscription downloads, which, with the appropriate subscription and a compatible portable device, do not require purchase). It's also possible to purchase music directly from the Music Guide or My Library without burning or transferring (see below).

Music purchased from Rhapsody is downloaded and saved in the default music folder on your computer (selected in My Library Preferences), and is automatically added to My Library once it has downloaded.

The music that's available for purchase is constantly being updated, so check the Music Guide often for changes. You can also get updates about your favorite artists on your My Rhapsody page in the Music Guide.

One-Click Purchasing

You can activate one-click purchasing from the Rhapsody Menus. Activating one-click purchasing will remove the confirmation dialogs from the purchasing process. Your credit card will be charged as soon as you start your purchase (either from the BUY button or the right-click menu, or when you begin the burn or transfer process with unpurchased tracks in the Mixer) and your download will begin immediately.

To activate one-click purchasing:

  1. Select My Account > Manage My Account: Preferences.

  2. Select Edit next to "One-Click Purchasing".

  3. Select Enable one-click track and album downloads.

  4. Click Submit.

Note: Music purchased from Rhapsody is content-protected, and downloaded Rhapsody files will not play on non-RealNetworks players. However, Rhapsody music burned to CD can be played in any CD player, and you can transfer and play purchased tracks on a variety of portable music players.
