Changing your Portable Device Options

There are a number of options you can select and change for your portable music player or device. Some are options that control your device’s interaction with Rhapsody; others are specific to your player or device.

How to access your portable device options

To change your portable device options, follow the steps below:

(To attach your portable device to your computer, plug your device's USB cable into the device. Connect the other end of the cable to the USB port in your computer. Make sure your device is on.)

1. Select Tools > Preferences: Devices in the Rhapsody Menus.
   
   or:

   When your portable device is attached, click the Transfer view of the Mixer.

2. Click . The "Preferences: Devices" dialog will appear.

3. When you have adjusted your Rhapsody Device Preferences to your liking, click Options to edit preferences specific to your portable device. The "Device Options" dialog appears.

4. When you have finished editing your General Device Options, click the Synchronization tab to edit your sync options if you wish:

• Select Add contents of My Library to the device... to add the local contents of My Library to your device without deleting any tracks from the device. (Default)
  
  or:

• Select Overwrite the contents of the device with My Library to remove all existing music files from your device and replace them with the local contents of My Library.
  
  Note: Library Synchronization will remove existing music tracks and playlists from your portable device, but it will not touch other file types, such as photo and video files.

• Select Sync all available music... to transfer all available local files from My Library to your device. (Default)
  
  or:

• Select Only sync selected playlists... to copy only those playlists you select (in the list provided) to your device.
  
  Note: Only your purchased tracks, imported (from CD or your local drives) tracks, and subscription downloads (if available with your subscription level and compatible portable device) will be synchronized. Unlike regular transfer, Sync will not initiate a download or the "Purchase" dialog. Download or purchase any tracks you wish to sync before you begin.

5. Click OK to close the "Device Options" dialog.

6. Click OK to close the "Preferences: Devices" dialog.
