Description

Installed Devices

If you have more than one portable device attached to your computer, select the device you want to change from the drop-down list. (The available devices that are attached to your computer and available to accept transfers are also displayed in the Source List.)

Options

General: Choose from options available with your specific device. These options may include the device name that appears in the Source List, the file format used when transferring tracks, and the bit-rate for the files. If your device supports the original format of the file, Rhapsody will not change the format when transferring.

Synchronization: Control how files are synchronized between your computer and the portable device.

How to Sync

Add contents of My Library...(Default): Adds the local contents of My Library to your portable device, without deleting any files from the device.

Overwrite the contents of the device...: Wipes the device clean of music files, and replaces them with the local contents of My Library.

Warning: Selecting Overwrite... will permanently delete all existing audio files from your device before adding My Library contents. Other existing content, such as photos and video files, will not be affected.

What to Sync

Sync all available music...(Default): Adds all available local tracks from My Library to the portable device.

Only sync selected playlists...: Adds only the local playlists you select to your device.

Add a New Device

Many Portable Devices will work with Rhapsody by simply attaching them to your computer. Some models, however, require additional small bits of software called "plugins" to function properly.

Add a New Device is for these situations. Click to open the "Add a New Device" browser window. Select the device you wish to add to Rhapsody and click Install to download the necessary plugin.

Advanced Harmony Options

Downloads you purchase from Rhapsody can automatically be converted to a format that is compatible with your portable device.

Cache...when I download Rhapsody songs: Select to convert files and add them to the cache as they are downloaded from Rhapsody. File transfer will be faster.

Cache...when I transfer songs to my device (Default): Select to convert files and add them to the cache when they are first transferred. File transfer will take longer the first time. Subsequent transfers will be quicker.

Advanced Settings:

Transfer Formats

Cache files ... iPod (m4p): Select to cache files to transfer to an iPod device.

Cache files ... Windows Media or "play for sure" device: Select to cache files for this type device.

Choose the quality level of Windows Media file to cache from the drop-down list.

Note: If you are unsure of the type of file to choose, select Allow Rhapsody to choose the best quality at the top of the list.

Delete Cached Files

Delete Files Now: Deletes only the ready-to-transfer files. My Library is not affected. Deleting cached files makes more room on your hard drive, but may slow down transfers in the future.
