Rhapsody Service

The Rhapsody Service is the power behind the Rhapsody player. Rhapsody service supplies the music, keeps My Library up to date, provides you with Rhapsody Radio stations, the Playlist Central online community, and manages your downloads. A paid subscription opens up the full power of Rhapsody. (Here is a list of common tasks you can perform with Rhapsody.)

Choose the Rhapsody subscription that's right for you. By choosing a paid subscription rather than the free Rhapsody 25, you get access to additional features and services.

Radio

Enjoy 24-hour-a-day streaming music on more than 120 commercial-free stations, and create your own custom radio stations. Your paid subscription also gives you the ability to skip past songs you don't want to listen to.

Music Guide

The Music Guide has over one million tracks in its library for you to explore and listen to for free.

You can also use the Music Guide as your personal music store. Click  to open the “Purchase” dialog. Once you've purchased a song from Rhapsody, you can listen to it whenever you want,  burn it to CD, or transfer it to a portable player or device.

Want to listen to your music on the road without an internet connection? Paid subscribers can download subscription tracks. You can play downloaded subscription tracks even when you are not connected to the internet, and with the appropriate subscription, you can transfer them to a compatible portable device.

Note: Not all subscription downloads can be transferred to a portable player or device. Some artists and labels have not granted subscription transfer rights to their tracks. If you attempt to transfer a subscription download that does not have transfer rights, the "Purchase" dialog will open.

Playlist Central and My Rhapsody

Playlist Central is an online Rhapsody community where you can find playlists to listen to or add to your collection, or publish your own playlists to share with the world. E-mail your Playlist Central finds and creations to your friends, or post them on your blog.

Friends who want to enjoy your playlists can download Rhapsody and enjoy 25 free plays a month. Paid subscribers can add playlists from Playlist Central to My Playlists in the Source List. This is a quick and easy way to sample lots of music before adding it to My Library.

My Rhapsody gives you a central place for personalized music recommendations. My Rhapsody gives you quick access to your favorite Rhapsody Radio stations, your personal "chart" of artists you've played recently, a list of the playlists you've published on Playlist Central, personalized Artist Alerts, new releases, and more.

My Library

Use My Library to store and organize all your streamed tracks and subscription downloads from the Music Guide, as well as local music on your computer.

CD

Use the Rhapsody player to listen to CDs, Import (rip) the tracks from CDs into My Library, and burn custom CDs.

Portable Devices

Use Rhapsody to transfer local music to your portable player or device and take your music with you. You can even synchronize the local contents of My Library with your portable device, playlists and all.

With the appropriate subscription and a compatible device (supported devices must be Janus, or "PlaysForSure," compatible), you can take most Rhapsody music with you without having to buy it. To find out if your portable device is compatible, visit the RealNetworks Devices page.

If you get tired of the music on your portable device, you can delete some or all of the tracks from your device and reload it with different tracks, as often as you like.
