File Menu

The file menu contains controls that relate to opening and importing files, clip information, and using RealPlayer offline.

Description

New

New Web Browser: Opens a new detached Media Browser.

New Playlist: Opens Create a New Playlist dialog.

New AutoPlaylist: Opens New AutoPlaylist dialog.

Open...

Plays a RealPlayer compatible file. Enter the URL (Internet address) of a streamed media file (for example: .rm, .ra, or .ram) into the Open location text box, or click Browse and select a media or playlist file from a folder on a local drive.

Scan Disk For Media...

Opens an import wizard that searches for media files on your local drives (you can select which drives to search) then groups and imports them as clips into your RealPlayer database. Clips can be viewed and organized in My Library.

Add Files to My Library...

Explores local drives and folders, letting you choose specific media files to be added to My Library.

Print

Print Current Web Page... Sends the contents of the current Web page to the printer.

Print Current Library View... Prints clip and category information for the current page in My Library. (See Print Current View for details.)

Print Jewel Case... Print front and back covers for a custom CD case.

Clip Properties

Edit Clip Info... Displays, and makes available for editing, all Clip Info for the currently queued clip(s).

View Clip Info:  Displays basic Clip information for currently queued clip, such as title, artist name, genre, etc.

Clip Source: Displays source details about the currently queued clip, such as file location; or for streamed clips, the URL.

Send Media Link
by E-mail

Opens a message with your e-mail client and attaches a link for the current streaming media clip. (See Send Media Link by E-mail for details.)

List of Recently Played Clips

Lists a history of your most recently played clips. Select a clip from this list to play the clip again.

You can enable/disable this list or clear the contents in the History section of the General Preferences at Tools > Preferences > General > History.

Work Offline

Stops RealPlayer from contacting the Internet, even when you access a feature that requires a connection. Many of the RealPlayer services require an Internet connection, but you may not always be in a position to connect.   Once you can connect to the internet, select Work Offline again to clear this feature, allowing RealPlayer to provide its full range of services for you.

Exit

Closes RealPlayer.
