Using Now Playing

As RealPlayer plays each new media file, it adds the new file to the Now Playing list. Information about each clip can be reviewed, and any or all of the clips can be saved to My Library individually or as a playlist. In addition, clips can be added to, deleted from, and reordered in the Now Playing list. Below are some common tasks and the methods for accomplishing them.

Viewing Clip Info

Point to any clip in the Now Playing list to display the available clip info, or select a clip and then select Clip Properties > View Clip Info to open the Clip Info window.

Creating a Now Playing List

Create a Now Playing list by adding clips (individually or in groups) with any of the following methods:

Description

Drag and Drop

Drag and drop into the Now Playing list any clips, tracks, playlists, or compatible media files from My Library, the CD page, or from any local file folder. You can also use drag and drop to reorder clips once they are part of the Now Playing list.

Click Add Clips Icon

Add Clips from Library...

Opens the Add Clip From My Library dialog. Select a clip category to view clips. Select clips from the Library categories and click Add Clips to add the clips to the Now Playing list and close the dialog.

Add File...

Opens the Add File dialog. Select and add media files to the Now Playing list. To add one or more files, double-click a single file, or select one of more files and click Open.

Add Folder...

Opens the Add Folder dialog. Select a folder and click OK to add all the compatible media files in that folder and its subfolders to the Now Playing list.

Add URL...

Opens the Add URL dialog. Enter the URL of a compatible clip on the Internet and click OK.

Note: If you play a clip while creating a Now Playing list, the new clip will be added to the Now Playing list according to options selected in the Now Playing section of your General Preferences (under Tools > Preferences > General).

Editing a Now Playing List

You can edit the Now Playing list in the following ways:

DELETE  

Use this key on your keyboard to delete any selected clip(s) from the list.

Edit

Offers a variety of standard editing choices such as copy, cut, and paste; also additional options such as Move Up, Move Down, Randomize and Restore.

Drag and drop

Drag and drop selected clips up or down in the list to alter the order.

Playing the Now Playing List

To play clips in the Now Playing list, double-click on any clip in the list. RealPlayer will play the selected clip and all clips following it in the list. If Continuous Play is enabled, RealPlayer will continue playing clips, returning to the top of the Now Playing list when it reaches the end.

You can also select any clip and click Play Button on the Player Control bar to play a single clip in the list.

Clearing the Now Playing List

DELETE

Use this key on your keyboard to delete any selected clip(s) from the Now Playing list.

Editdown arrow

Select Remove from this menu to delete the selected clip(s) from the Now Playing list.

Click Delete List Icon

Deletes all clips from the Now Playing list.

Saving and Sharing the Now Playing List

The Now Playing list can be saved as a Playlist in My Library, or as an exportable playlist file (*.m3u, *.pls, or *.rmp) that you can share with friends.
