Preferences: General

General Preferences determine RealPlayer's basic behavior, such as resizing, default file locations, and how your Now Playing list works.

Description

RealPlayer Options

On startup display: (Default is Remember Last View) Selects a specific browser page (Real Guide, My Library, etc.) to be displayed at startup. You can also choose to open your Player without opening the Media Browser (RealPlayer only).

Automatically resize..: (Default is On) Select to enable; RealPlayer will automatically resize the Video Screen to fit the size of the current video content.

Note: If you close the Presentation Area when this feature is off, it will remain closed until you manually resize it.

File Locations

 

When saving or downloading media, RealPlayer automatically stores files according to the following settings. The default location for media files is C:\My Music\.

My Library Files

Enter, or select with Browse..., where to save all new media files for clips in My Library. This includes saved audio files (CDs, Mic/Line-in), Converted files, and downloaded (from the Internet) media files.

Temporary Files

Enter, or select with Browse..., where temporary files (Streaming Cache, etc.) created by RealPlayer are saved.

Now Playing

 

 

Select the behavior of the Now Playing List when a new clip is selected to be played.

Clear..: (Default is On) Clears the current Now Playing list, then places the new clip at the top of the list.

Warn..: (Default is On) If the Clear option is selected, RealPlayer displays a warning before the Now Playing list is cleared and replaced.

Keep..: (Default is Off) Keeps old clips in Now Playing list when adding new clips. New clips are added to the bottom of list. Enter the maximum number of clips to keep from the old list. More recent clips replace older clips if the maximum is reached.

History

 

Enable a history..: (Default is On) When enabled, a list of the most recently played clips appear in the File menu, and the most recently visited Internet pages are available in the Address bar.

Clear History: Click to remove history data for the Address bar and File menu.
