The Status Display, just below the Presentation area,  is your connection and playback information center. Find out at a glance about the clip status and format, and the status of your connection to the internet.

Description

now playing button

Click to open or close the Now Playing list. The Now Playing list appears on the left side of the Media Browser. Other content in the Media Browser will be resized to accommodate the Now Playing list. You can also resize the Now Playing list horizontally, or detach it as a separate window.

connecting message

You will see the word "Connecting" while RealPlayer finds and connects to the content site.

status bar clock loading  message

During loading, you will see a loading icon indicating the action that is occurring but is not yet finished; the word "Loading..." and the percentage complete will also appear.

communicating message

Indicates that RealPlayer is getting additional information.

play indicator pause indicator

Status of the clip; Play play indicator or Pause pause indicator. (No icon is displayed for Stop.)

seeking starting point message

Indicates that the clip is paused while you move the Position Slider, seeking a new starting point in the clip. (The percentage represents the distance from the beginning of the clip, as indicated by 0%.)

title

Title and Artist of the clip appear if available; if not, the file name will appear. Clicking on the title and artist will open the Clip Info dialog.

The Format Indicator shows the data format of the clip. As new formats are added, additional indicators will appear.

connection speed

Stream bandwidth in Kbps.

green play icon Normal
orange play icon Minimal
red play icon Severe

Net Health is indicated by the color of the Play Icon. Green represents a good connection. Orange represents minimal information loss. Red tells you that there is severe information loss: rebuffering is necessary. Rebuffering will cause a short pause in playback.

time played / live

time played / play length

Live clip (for example: a radio station); Time played/Live.

Pre-recorded clip (for example an *.rm file); Time played/Total clip length.

Note: Click on this indicator to change the display format to 10ths of a second. Click again to revert to whole seconds.
